Mintpass still hasn’t got around to delivering the 7-inch Android tablet they talked about back in 2009, but it seems they’ve already moved on to more interesting things. According to CNET Asia, the Korean company is working on a dual-screen clamshell tablet, similar in form-factor to the Toshiba Libretto W100, but dual-booting between Windows 7 and Android and launching in the first half of 2011. As with the W100, the Mintpass’ two screens will function both independently and in tandem, depending on user-choice. Each will be a touchscreen, capable of showing an on-screen keyboard for notebook-style text entry, or users will be able to run two apps simultaneously or one spread across both displays.

Mintpass claim to be using a homegrown touchscreen system of their own, called “Space Touch”, though haven’t actually detailed what it entails; they’re also planning to submit the so-far unnamed tablet for Android Market approval. It’s unclear at this stage what processor the device might be based on: there’s a build of Android that will run on Intel’s Atom CPUs, as with the ViewSonic ViewPad 10, but currently that tops out at Android 1.6. Alternatively, Mintpass could use two processors – an ARM-based CPU for Android and an x86 chip for Windows 7 – that would also hopefully allow them to prolong the tablet beyond the Libretto W100′s disappointing 2-3 hours of battery life.
